Tennessee Tuberoses Company

Several years ago I purchased ten single flowered tuberose from Tennessee Tuberoses. I received nine very tiny rhizomes. Three of the rhizomes were about the size of a pea. Four of the rhizomes had some kind of virus, their leaves were irregularly striped and stippled with yellow and were immediately destroyed. The remaining rhizomes grew normally, although only one plant was large and strong enough to produce flowers the first season. Now the plants grow, flower and multiply normally although it took two years to get them up to flowering size. I would warn anyone interested in tuberose to stay away and not order anything from Tennessee Tuberoses, they appear much more interested in spreading their religious beliefs (which is a major put - off to me) than producing anything remotely resembling a quality product.

These people are actually only a few miles from my house. I just discovered them and was thinking of ordering. You may want to wait and see what your tuberoses do this year. I seem to recall the one time I had them about 20 years ago that the same thing happened the first year but they bloomed the second year and thereafter. Maybe you/I planted them too deep. I don't know - maybe they're just finicky. I would check with TN Tuberoses and see if this is common.

I ordered a group of tuberoses from these folks last Spring. There was about 15 or so bulbs of varying size which I thought was a pretty good buy for the price. I planted as directed. But as far as I know, none of them ever came up. If they did, they did not bloom or I think I would have spotted the flowers. I am hoping some will come up this Spring.
