New customer, ordered seeds for the first time from Baker Creek, (about $150 worth) and they never arrived! I don't have a ring doorbell or anyway to confirm but I suspect USPS simply delivered to the wrong, but very similar, address. They could have been porch pirated as well but, either way I was very distraught. I contacted Baker Creek customer service via email, explained the situation, even offered to pay half if not all for the order again. They refused me paying anything and simply sent my entire order again, even expedited so it would arrive in 48 hours! I got them today (I was stalking the mailbox this time)!!!!! They were so professional and kind and prompt, I won't ever shop for heirloom open pollinated seeds anywhere else ever again, BAKER CREEK IS THE BOMB!!!! All they said is they wanted me to be a satisfied customer... boy am I ever!!! Il tell everyone I know where to go for the best seeds!! Il stop by the farm this year too (live in Kansas so not a terrible drive) buy more, eat at the restraunt, etc. CUSTOMER FOR LIFE FOR SURE!!!! NAMASTE!!

I've ordered from their catalogs and bought seeds from their store in Petaluma, CA. They have a wonderful selection; their catalogs are beautiful as well as informative. I have to exercise great self control when browsing! Response time on personal questions is above and beyond impressive. Bottom line, of course, is their seeds. I've had good success with germination. They give gift seeds and have free shipping. My favorite company.

I could not be more impressed with the service from Baker Creek. I was happy to find a couple of seeds there that were a bit hard to find, but the service is what won me over. I emailed them regarding an order, which had shipped 3 weeks previously but had not shown up. Being the day before Christmas Eve, I wasn't expecting a quick reply, but exactly 11 minutes later, I received an email promising to resend the order, which I then received less than a week later. Thank you, Baker Creek!

I was looking for a rare pepper seed (Biquinho Red) and was able to find them in their catalog. Shipping was free, but the site explained it might take awhile. I'm not planning to plant for months, so free shipping suited me well. For some reason, the package never made it to me. I contacted Lisa at Rareseeds.com and she confirmed it should have arrived. She reshipped and they arrived only a few days later. I am well pleased with the response and the quality of the package I received. Thank you Lisa!

I just received my second seed order from Baker Creek. It came with free shipping and a gift of Amish paste tomato seeds. They have a huge selection and a beautiful catalog. I'll be admiring their lovely pictures when the weather is cold and wet this winter. The only seed that didn't germinate for me was pink Amaranth, so I bought some more to try again. I'm in zone 8b in Oregon, and the springs go from cool and damp to dry with temperatures over 90. I think my Amaranth just didn't germinate at a favorable time.

I love Baker Creek! I could stop right there, but I won't. I am a recent convert to the BK club. I would occasionally see the huge BK catalog for sale at book stores and think, "wow, pretty, but soooo expensive!" My mom would buy it for me as a Christmas gift and it was a total overload for my young(er) brain. Fast forward to 2021 and the dark times of the pandemic, I was watching a lot of YouTube videos about gardening and many were mentioning BK. So, yeah, I had to go look. I placed my first order in early 2022 and just received my latest order of plants a week ago. Have there been a few duds? Yes. A couple of packs of onion seeds did not germinate well. So what? The purple tomato controversy was a little weird, but I don't buy new hybrids until I hear good things from others about them anyway. I love the way they package their items; everything has arrived in good shape. I love that they have free shipping and free seeds. I don't mind having to wait for an order to get mailed, especially if it's at the height of the season for seed & plant buying. I plan accordingly by either ordering early or planting them the following year, if the seeds arrive too late. So far, that seems to be working.

Have been a customer for over a year now. Excellent seeds and excellent service. For the first time this year I had a problem with the delivery of an order. Their response was immediate and professional and they sent me a replacement for the order. This company will continue to be on my top company list.

This was my first time ordering from Baker Creek and I was thoroughly impressed! My order shipped fairly quick and the selection is awesome. Free shipping is a relief and the envelope it arrived in is pretty cool too! I was hesitant to try a new company this year but am so glad I did. Excited to put some seeds in the ground!

I've ordered seeds from Baker Creek for around 5+ years now. Each time a majority of the seeds have germinated and in some cases thrived despite my lately light-brown (and years ago pitch black) thumb. No issues with their website, ordering, etc. All has gone smoothly, and the occasional free packet of seeds has turned out to be a nice bonus. Note to other davesgarden.com users, this site has some significant usability issues (resetting password, getting with the times user authentication wise, etc.), which I've messaged them about. I'm a longtime IT guy and some of the hoops to jump through here are needlessly tedious and precarious. Props to Baker Creek, regardless, for their solid service and fascinatingly wide variety of seed! This Florida man is happy to help propagate those in many cases rare varietals.

I have been ordering seeds from Baker Creek for a few years now and I have enjoyed looking through the catalogs and then getting on the website to place an order - usually finding a couple more things I want to add to the order. I like that they send free seed so that I can try things I might not order if I hadn't tried it first. I also like the variety of seeds they have...sometimes I order way too many seeds because I can't choose. I like the information provided and the great service. I find seeds there I don't find anywhere else.

Have ordered from Baker Creek multiple times especially since my local seed supplier closed a few years back. They're always on the ball with very fast turnaround and excellent order accuracy. I have never had any problems with germination either. Two thumbs up! (If I had another hand, it would be three thumbs up! )

I have been ordering from Baker Creek for 20 years now. I placed my 1st order in 2004. I have had mostly good experiences. There have been a few items over the years that didn't live up to the hype in the catalog. But overall, I appreciate the fast service, nice catalog, good telephone service (do they still do that? They used to, lol). I am presently waiting on an order from them that is taking longer than normal in the mail. But I am hoping it will arrive this week. The USPS has changed our distribution center from Cheyenne, Wyoming to Denver, Colorado, and it seems to be causing the mail service to slow down a bit. But overall, this is a reliable company and I have no doubt I will order again, and again, and again, lol...

Starting my 2nd year buying from Rareseeds. Overall a very rewarding relationship. Every seed hasn't done well, but some have been due to my inexperience, some because the Texas Panhandle is a challenge to Garden! The live Japanese sweet potatoes last year were a big success. This year was Potato microtubers,2 varieties, just planted last week. Vegetables, herbs, flowers, of all kinds ,so many available that I have trouble finding space for everything I want to try. New this year: Purple Broccoli, Arugula,Corn Salad, Scarlett & Dwarf Siberian Kale,Merlot & Tennis Ball Lettuce, all growing exceptionally well. The ordering process is expedient, the Catalog extensive, & free shipping to boot.The only criticism I can manage is that there are literally hundreds of more plant varieties I want, more than I can handle.

I ordered a catalog from them. Then I ordered some seeds. The shipping is fast, the seeds are packageed carefully and in a fancy bubble envelope. I even received a gift seed packet. I am very impressed and satisfied with the purchase. I just need to buy more land at this point to fit all the plants i want to grow.

I've had some good germination rates on some seed and horrible on others. Of those that grew properly, probably the melons were most problematic. Other melons not from Baker Creek were fine, the ones from Baker Creek (about 5 different kinds) were either tasteless or I question if any human actually tasted them to list the melons as "sweet", they were that bitter. (We wanted to experience other cultures through foods.......was not pleasant....we generally enjoy new things) Threw the nasty melons in compost pile and even the wildlife avoided them. Was alot of effort to be so disappointed. Otherwise have had awesome starts to things like beans and deer ate them to nubs. I've definitely noticed a trend in most mail order companies to send less seed for same or more money the last 5 or so years. The past couple years orders have been sent fast which I appreciate. I wish more companies had the heirloom variety that Baker Creek has, especially sorghum for example, so we could order more in a bulk fashion versus hobby garden that they are geared towards.

I wish there was a "neutral-positive" rating on this website. I've had good luck with Baker Creek Seeds germinating, and I really appreciate the effort that they put into photographs for their catalog -- it's genuinely stunning. You won't be disappointed if all you care about is seeds at reasonable prices that germinate and grow. However, their customer service is a bit draconian; you engage on their terms or not at all. I've had no problems as a retail customer, but some of my friends have stories to tell. The company's orientation has also just gotten weirder over time. Their seed varieties skew heavily toward Asian, and especially Japanese, stock to a degree that is unusual, and their politics (which they are open about) are increasingly right-wing and anti-government. I expect that will be welcome news for some folks who themselves skew in that direction, but it's challenging for me when I can buy good seeds at similar prices from companies that don't openly support perspectives that are inconsistent with my values.

I have ordered from Baker Creek for 3 years now and have been pleased. Their seeds have close to a 100% germination rate for me, their live plants arrived in fantastic shape, and their customer service has been exemplary. I wish all my relationships could be as positive as my interactions with this company :).

My mother has ordered from Baker Creek for many years and has always been happy with her seed. I placed an order on 4/15/2023 and received it within a few days. Quite quickly considering the mail has slowed down considerably over the last couple of years. I planted several types within the first two days I received them, and they're already sprouting. Super pleased with germination so far! I was also very excited about the two packets of free seed and pleasantly surprised that it seems as though they took the time to look at what we had bought instead of just tossing something random in. I had ordered peppers and received wasabi and another pepper variety. While I can't tolerate either, my partner was super excited about the spicy additions. I'm sure Baker's Creek is wonderful to its retail customers, and they do have wonderful seeds, but the rude and unprofessional way they treat their wholesale clients is both shocking and disgusting. Lisa S. needs to stop telling blatant lies.

I USED to order seed from Baker Creek, but their shady policies have ended those orders. Cliven Bundy, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., appropriation of Native seed stock. BAD OPTICS. BAD BUSINESS. I prefer to support companies that don't support divisive people and mistreat the indigenous peoples. Baker Creek has also go full in on Chinese plants. Seems like there may be a story there beyond just the adoption.

I enjoy the fast shipping and reasonable prices of your seeds. Other sites charge so much for the shipping that sometimes I just leave the items in the cart. The only negative I have is that I can't get everything from you and sometimes I have to shop somewhere else. Keep up the pleasant service and pricing and I will be a customer for life.

This company has gone downhill fast and I am particularly concerned about its shady activities. After over a decade of doing business with Baker Creek, I was treated so badly by their rude, obnoxious, and incompetent customer service reps that I am compelled to write this review to warn other gardeners. Not only do they lose your order history, they do not fulfill orders and fight with you for a resolution! I placed an order, never received it, was strung along by their rude reps for over a month denying replacement or refund while they forced me to wait nearly a month for a resolution. Meanwhile, the growing season window came and went while they strung me along. They could care less that they ruined the opportunity for me to grow these seeds this year. Absolutely horrible customer experience. They eventually refunded, marked the items as out of stock, and voila! They clearly never even had or sent the seeds and were just conning me and hoping to keep my money. I felt that there was fraudulent activity going on with these dishonest, aggressive thugs. Baker Creek literally thinks the world of gardeners owes them a living. Not a chance.

Excellent Customer Service! FIVE STARS! When the USPS lost my (tracked) seed order, I was very disappointed! But, the Baker Creek folks were gracious enough to replace the lost seeds when notified AND they did it in 2 days!!! The zucchino rampicanteseeds are now sown and there's hope that they will produce late this summer or in the early fall.

We are very pleased with Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Co due to their EXCELLENT customer service and tremendous selection of very unusual seeds. I ordered some packets last week and somehow there was an error with it. I contacted their customer service, and within a couple of hours, Baker Creek resolved the problem. Also, the free shipping and speed of delivery is fantastic. We are very excited to plant the new seeds and sneak the crops in before the first frost.

The best. Seeds always germinate. I have had 1 low germ rate pack arrive out of probably hundreds of seed packets, it was labeled with the germination rate %. They doubled the count to make up for the low rate (that was still greater than 3/4, so basically a free extra half packet for the inconvenience of a few not sprouting). The live plants are always alive and healthy. Plus free seeds!

My primary source of seeds for several years now and have never been disappointed. Looking at their catalog gets me through the winter. It's visually stunning. Such a wonderful variety of seeds. Shipping has always been prompt and they have numerous cultivars I have yet to see anywhere else. Especially fond of their Iraqi varieties, including Ali Baba watermelon and Abu Rawan tomatoes.

I had several questions about my order. There is no phone number listed on their website. (I just joined this site and they have a phone number listed here. Why not list one on their website?) Customer service is via email. I sent an email asking for a phone call. I kept getting emails. I want to speak with someone and ask my questions. It would have taken less than 5 minutes of their time. But they kept making me email and no one called. I don't have time to drop my tools to keep typing. But I can use my hands while talking on the phone. Also, I "bought" their catalog. Through the several emails, I asked where it was and was informed that it takes 2-3 weeks to get it. By then, it will be too late. They didn't say thay when I ordered it. The receipt sent with the seeds shows the charge for it, but no explanation that it will arrive in a few weeks. So, I contacted customer service for that, as well, and asked for a phone call. Never got my call. Very disappointed and frustrated with their "customer service" process.

I have been purchasing seeds from Baker Creek going for a few years. I have had success with the seeds and they have not disappointed. Recently I purchased live blueberry plants, and they arrived looking healthy. I would highly recommend this company to anyone. I love their free delivery and speed. I also enjoy their free seeds, and the beautiful pictures on the seed packets. Their website is addicting, and one has to be careful if not you could easily fill the shopping cart. This is simply to affirm that Baker's Creek provides prompt free shipping to complement their thoughtful and varied seed selection displayed so beautifully on their site. When I saw they were donating all their sales to the Ukrainian humanitarian effort one weekend, I had to order again (even though I had reached my budget limit)! I will post again after my harvest this year but so far, I'm beyond impressed.

This is one of the seed sites I can lose way too much time browsing. They have a huge selection of interesting and unique plants. I don't have deep pockets so I only ordered a few packs but I'm exciting to see what the fruit grows like. They included a free packet of herb seed in my order which I received quickly after ordering. I will be ordering from them again.

In watching two of my favorite YouTube gardening channels I found out about Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Co. What a HUGE selection. I was in heaven. We moved last summer to zone 7 and I didn't have enough time to plant a garden so was eager to start this year. I spent over $60 in seeds! With that I received several free packets of seeds that I'm happy to try. I started in seed trays and all of the seeds germinated quickly! The plants are growing fast and I can't wait to see what my garden yields this year. I will definitely be shopping with them again in the future.

I'm new to gardening and purchased a few packs of seeds from Baker Creek - even with just a mere 5 packs of seeds ordered they still threw in a free pack of seeds for me. Shipping is free as well so overall the price for the seeds was very reasonable! I'll definitely be ordering here again as I learn more about gardening and want to plant more veggies.

Love this company as a resource for seeds. I had a question about when to harvest eggplant, and one of the gardeners called me and gave me useful tips. I also love the fact that they always throw in one free "surprise" packet of seeds. Most importantly, they frequently notify regular customers of opportunities to buy packets and have the proceeds go to a worthy cause, whether it's victims of a natural disaster or refugees. Looking forward to many more years of getting an amazing variety of seeds from Baker Creek, and I miss living close enough to visit their farm in Missouri.

I have now ordered a few times from this company and have always been pleased with my purchases. I have always had success growing what I've purchased. Just received my order of Crimson Clover and Bulls Blood Beet seeds and am beyond excited for spring!

I really want to like this company, but their website makes it hard. Positive points about this company: (1) They offer lots of seeds that I haven't seen for sale by other companies. (2) The seeds I have used from them, Royal Blend Sweet Pea, had acceptable germination rates and grew beautifully throughout summer/fall 2021. Their free seed packet of purple Japanese mustard leaves also grew nicely even two years after receiving it and with improper storage methods. (3) The reviews on their website can offer a lot of insight into how to get different seeds to germinate well. I also appreciate the "minimum seed count" listed for each seed packet. Negative points about this company: (1) Many of the seeds for sale online don't have any "days to maturity" noted. This makes it incredibly difficult to plan my garden out for the year unless I do extra research to find this information on other websites. There are some varieties of plant seed for sale that I can't find any information on elsewhere, so I am left to make a wild guess about maturation time. (2) There is no standardized format on their mobile website that lists basic plant attributes. Plant height (if it's listed at all!) is often buried in a paragraph of information about each plant, and plant width seems to be rarely mentioned. This means navigating their website is labor intensive compared to others, and additional research is also required.

I love this company! They have a lovely catalog with so many interesting seeds. I love to try new things and they have plenty to choose from. I also really love that they send a free seed packet with your order and this time it was Mizuna. I can't wait to try it! I'm a very happy customer!

I have ordered from Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds, probably 40 times over the years. I have always had a positive experience with them. The one time that I had germination issues with gray poppies, they refunded the cost of the seeds. I will continue to do business with this company without hesitation!

Quite a good selection of heirloom seeds. All I have tried are viable and produce well. These little round yellow squash and round zucchini are tremendous producers and everyone loves them! Thanks for preserving these great varieties!

When I first ordered vegetable seeds from BC many years ago, I was disappointed by poor germination and off-types. However, I tried BC again after their Petaluma opening and have been a regular customer ever since. Variety, quality, and price are excellent. I particularly like their pepper and eggplant varieties. Germination is fast and reliable. I appreciate the free seed packet too.
