Information on North Haven Gardens

Been drooling and/or shopping here for years. They have become increasingly organic, sell plants that are 'in season', have lots of free classes and handouts, sponsor chicken sales, etc. Good, informed and friendly staff. Plus a free happy hour the first Friday of every month. All this with plant prices going down instead of up.On June 5th, 2015, tx_flower_child added the following:

Wanted to add a few things. Should have mentioned before that NHG is 1 of the only places I know of that reallyrecycles all plastic garden pots and trays. Also, they have a veggie garden all year for display and teaching. At times they've sold produce if they've grown too much.
Correction: Happy hours have changed. Still have them but best to get on their email list.

My opinion of NHG is rather mixed :/ The place is very clean and well kept. They have a great selection of plants for every taste and all were very healthy looking. Pricing ranges from very reasonable to outrageous. An example of this is....
herbs and [u]most[/u] perennials were average price ranging from $1-$10. However, I found an Echinacea that I liked and it was $26 for a 1qt. pot!! Yes, they have many newer cultivars that others don't have, but for that price I'll pass.

Best garden center in DFW. Great plants selection. The best FREE education program in the city. Great customer service: there is always somebody helping you to select the right plant and to give you tips for success.

Definitely my favorite nursery of those I've visited in the North Dallas area. Their selection of herbs can't be beat. They also carry quite a few organic products (like Rabbit Hill Farms brand stuff, which I love.)

North Haven is one of the nicer nurseries in the Dallas area. They always carry a great selection of healthy plants. This is a good place to find some more unusual selections. However, as some have mentioned, they can be a little pricey. I always receive good service when I shop here.

This is probably my favorite Nursery of those in the metroplex. Their selection of perennials cannot be beat and I've found the staff extremely knowledgable and helpful. I was there on my lunch hour this week. Picked out a rose bush that I thought met my expectations. As I continued to wander around the rose area, one of the staff asked to help me. When I told him what I expected out of my rose, he told me I would be highly disappointed in the one I picked out and directed me to a gorgeous rose that would meet my expectations. If there is anything negative, it is the price of the annuals. I think the perennial prices are in line with everyone else but I won't spend that much on annuals when I can get them somewhere else at a lower price. All in all, it is worth a trip for you to check them out. :-)

This is one of my favorite garden centers in the Dallas area. It is a long drive from my home, but I tend to go every other weekend in the spring. They ALWAYS have unique perennials and other plants, vines, etc..

Also they have a wealth of experience and are so helpful..

I'm young and shabby-looking, but everyone at Northaven Gardens has been willing to put up with my many questions, tell me all about the plants I don't know, and help load up my shabby-looking car. I do spend too much money at this nursery, but the prices are not at fault - just my self-control.

I LOVE this nursury. I am only 36 so I hope that does not put me into the "old" category just yet. They have a wonderful staff of very knowledable people, but you have to wait to talk to them because everyone else wants their attention as well. In my experience, their staff all have bachelors in horticulture or so (these are the people in the garden-not the cashiers). The prices are a bit on the high side, but they have such a wonderful selection it is hard to resist going there. They have a good selection of texas natives as well.

Great selection of plants of every type at this nursery, including trees, bushes, natives, and houseplants. Nothing they really specialize in, but lots of plants. Prices are a bit on the mid to high side, but they aren't the highest in the metroplex. There are almost always people there to stock, but rarely anyone who is very knowledgeable to help. I have a feeling it as a previous reviewer said; I don't fit the upper class older neighborhood mold.

I like North Haven too. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately for my checkbook!), it's farther away than some other nurseries, so I don't get over there as often as I'd like.

Excellent plant selection (their best feature!), but customer service is often lacking. Prices are generally higher than other local nurseries'. I get the feeling that they prefer to cater to the upper class, older customers when I visit their nursery in jeans and a t-shirt.

My absolutely favorite nursery in Dallas. Their tropical greenhouse, with their collection of begonias, ferns, terrarium plants is marvelous. Great selection on roses, annuals, perennials, herbs, gifts, garden products. I LOVE THIS PLACE!
