Information on Orchard Supply Hardware

Staff is very helpful. I've bought alot of basic plants here. They used to have a very good selection of glad and dahlia bulbs for planting in the early spring, but this year, the selection was very disappointing. I was told it was a shipping problem so I'll try again next year. I DID, however, find a "Nelly Moser" clemantis which was online for like ten bucks plus shipping costs. I paid around 6 bucks for it in early May and it's mid-April. It is healthy, sprouting leaves now.

I like this location as much as my more local one at Middlefield & Woodside in Redwood City, CA. In fact, I've had similarly very positive experiences in every OSH I've stepped into. Check out the really long-time one on San Carlos Ave in San Jose some time!
OSH is a medium sized still-localized chain of stores; are they still family owned or what's the connection with Sears these days? (They sell Craftsman tools; what's not to love about that?)
They count as a local favorite for me, at all their locations, both for sustainable biz practice--they pay folks a living wage, and thus keep them around long enough to really know what they're talking about, unlike the bigbox stores, and all have splendid garden centers/nurseries, plus all the tools to set up drip irrigation, and all the good hardware you could want.

The El Cerrito Orchard Supply Hardware has a reasonable size nursery. I have purchased many of the more common ferns from here. Generally has a good selection of well priced plants, and friendly helpful staff.
