Information on Caldwell Nursery

We have been here twice and both times the lady that owns it, was rude. She just seemed to be put out until she realized we were there to purchase bamboo. Her bamboo is quite expensive compared to other places. After we told her we were going to look around and may be back, she became quite rude again. Will never step foot on that property again. She makes you feel so unwelcome, I would never give my hard earned money to a place that doesn't appreciate it. I got bamboo at Texas Growers Nursery last year. It was beautiful and is doing awesome, but she couldn't get what I needed this year. Will buy from anyone else but Caldwell's.

I have enjoyed doing business with Caldwell Nursery for years. Nothing I have ever purchased from their nursery has ever disappointed me. When I am looking for something out of the ordinary, they are the place to go. I love spending the day browsing every nook and cranny of the vast demonstration gardens. There are endless ideas for using plants. I love going there any time of the year. Both CadyDee and her husband are a pleasure to visit with and both knowledgable about all of the wonderful plants found there. Thank you Caydee.

This place is more an experience than just a nursery, much like Joshua's inside the loop. I make a day of it just to walk around and see the property and the amazing landscaping. She has old growths of all the bamboo she sells so you can really see what that 15 gallon you are buying will like in 5 years.

Caydee and her husband are great! The comment below, sorry, we all have our bad days, especially walking around a huge nursery in 107 degree Texas heat.

Caydee knows everything there is to know about salvias, ginger, citrus, bamboo, etc. and her selection of rare tropicals is spectacular.

I buy alot from Caydee, I have done business with her for going on 20 years now and I can say she has the best plants around and they don't cost an arm and a leg. If your looking for something unusual she will probably have it or find it for you.
I like to stop by and just browes it is so relaxing and she has so many gift items and things that give you ideas of what to put in your own garden. Can't beat her Rose, Ginger, Bambo, Citrus selection or just about anything else. When I go out there I always plant to spend almost half a day, just so much to see and think about. I have brought drinks and a snack with me just in case I stay longer than I figured on. LOL
I just love it hands down.

I live in Vinton, Louisiana. Several times a year I drive to Caldwell's Nursery in Rosenburg, Tx, and always leave with my truck filled. It is a 2 1/2 hour drive for me and my family, but well worth it. I don't know what happened for the person who posted the bad experience, but I have nothing but positive to say about Caldwell's.

Caldwell's is the SINGLE BEST nursery I have ever visited, period. They have a huge assortment of plants--bamboos, cacti and succulents, tropicals, just about every category you could want. They have more rare, hard-to-find plants than any other nursery I have ever visited. Their selection is excellent, and I often find rare plants that I can't locate on eBay or online. Their prices are reasonable. The owners always help me with any questions I have, and make sure all of the plants I purchase are labeled. They have helped me with growing problems as well, and I always have a ton of questions for them. In addition to their nursery, they have a wooded garden path filled with bamboos, furcrea, agave and other plants that is an enjoyable experience and is the reason my kids like to go.

I would highly recommend this nursery to anyone!

I have driven down from north Katy several times, not a short distance, but this was the last. Almost every time at Caldwell's I have felt VERY unwelcome, Cay Dee seems quite put out to answer questions. If she does stop to show you something, she walks 10 feet ahead, heaven forbid you take up her time. The last straw today was over a palm, which was my reason for driving all the way down there to begin with. I found a plant I liked and was told by the man there (him, Cay Dee referred to), 1)he wasn't sure what it was 2) it was a texas sabal 3) it wasn't for sale 4) it was a 'special' variety. I guess it's the midwesterner in me, but, not only should a customer be treated like they are valued, they should also be accomodated. He obviously didn't have any idea what he was talking about, nor would that single one gallon palm have been any great loss to Caldwell's had he sold it to me. Finally, when I walked back up front where he and Cay Dee were talking, I overheard her say "just mark it a real high price". Very nice, I'm going back to Cornelius.

This is the finest nursery around rating at least a ten star. If you are looking for rarer plants at great prices, you will be able to find them here. This is a MUST nursery to go to on your list. My VERY favorite.

I would rate this nursery a 10 star, but since the max is five, then 5 will have to do. My favorite nursery in Houston.
