In late November 2006, we ordered five cubic yards of Earth Care Farms fabulous organic compost ~ WOW, this black gold mix totally ROCKS!!! We purchased during their fall special: buy 4 cubic yards (@ $50/cu yd) and get the 5th free.

Although we haven't physically visited their farm, phone messages are promptly returned if no one answers the phone. The owner arranged the delivery and our entire transaction was delightfully smooth from start-to-finish.

We specifically ordered this compost to plant herbaceous peony root divisions (the majority having a couple of eyes). We planted 25 in our yard and two in our neighbor's. We're storing our remaining peony divisions in this compost (moist and completely covered in open plastic bags, in our cool basement) until we can plant them in the spring. Our peony divisions have since sprouted new eyes and additional root growth!! While I believe this informs us about the health of our peony roots, I am equally convinced it speaks volumes about the nutrients in Earth Care Farms organic compost. We also used this compost to mulch around the base of each of our plantings.

Purchasing from Earth Care Farms was easy and our pleasure. We're pretty selective whenever we lay out our hard-earned cash ~ especially when we get into triple-digit amounts, and we'll happily spend it again here in a heartbeat if we ever need more of their awesome compost!
