I purchase plant material for a landscape company. My crew is in Agoura Hills and we need some plants. I called Sperling Nursery and was told that they do not have the time to help me on the phone. Only walk in business.
They are just too busy.
Nice way to treat a new customer, NOT!

Great place to just look around. Attractive displays and a wide variety of plants and supplies. More California native plants than the typical local nursery, I think. Knowledgeable staff. Though Calabasas is a ritzy area, prices seem to be pretty normal. The place is very, very busy on weekends, so go on a weekday if you can.

We have a gazillion nurseries in southern California but this one is unique. They have a LOT of unusual and rare plants I have never seen at another nursery, and for fairly reasonable prices. Every time I go I see cacti, succulents, bromeliads, bamboo and other interesting perenials I have only seen in botanical gardens, if anywhere at all. Got my chocolate mimosa there, as well as my Himalayan Blue Bamboo. They have lots of great fruit trees, roses, Australian plants, and a wide selection of very nice looking pots and gifts as well.
Located on a hillside just at the edge of Calabasas, near the road that heads to Malibu, this nursery is not only full of great plants, but is nice to look at too- nicely laid out on this hillside in such a way you can see all the plants from several locations. The hilliness makes getting up and down a bit of a chore, and they have great garden carts with built in brakes (thank goodness!) and lots of help if needed. Can be a bit of a challenge to park there when it's busy... but worth it!
