One of my all time favorite places to go! A beautiful Victorian architecture building that opened in 1879 and is the oldest existing public conservatory in No. America. I love the beautiful display of the changing tropicals in the potted plants section, the entry with lowland tropicals with their famous 100+ year old Philodendron, the exotic display in the highland tropicals and my favorite, the aquatic plants with their giant Victoria amazonica water lily leaves. The room is surrounded by a stunning collection of carnivorous plants and bromeliads. They also have a special exhibits room with seasonal floral displays as well as different educational themes. I enjoyed a wonderful butterfly display with my grandson one year.

Not to be missed if you are a resident of the Bay Area or just visiting in the area, regular visits during the year provide all kinds of new things to see.

This is likely one of my all-time favorite places to spend time. Well worth the visit and very low entry price (at time of review $5 for adults, less for kids) and FREE on the first Tuesday of each month.
Exhibits change regularly and the Water Lily room can't be beat!
If you are able to visit the Conservatory, be sure to save time to go to Strybing Arboretum. [HYPERLINK@davesgarden.com] Another super public garden that is in my top 5 places to be!
