Grew one 10' row of the Green Salad Bowl last year beside a row of Grand Rapids Leaf. Both rows grew great and we were giving lettuce aw...Read Moreay after six weeks. I would say here in Billings, MT you could expect your first harvest in five weeks after planting from seed. We got 4 or five cuttings from it until it started turning bitter in August. That would have been a good time to plant another row but we didn't. The first four cuttings were delicious and we did not have to buy lettuce last summer. I just cut it with a scissors, about 1" off the ground. My neighbor just asked us what kind of lettuce we grew last year as she wants to plant some after getting to eat a lot of it. Other than the look of the leaf, I could not taste a difference between the Green Salad Bowl and the Grand Rapids Leaf. I watered at least every other day and fertilized lightly with vegetable fertilizer in solution about every two weeks. The earwigs love this stuff and we had to be careful to remove them when cleaning up the cuttings. Growing just one 10' row this summer as that will be plenty for our family of four.
