They are hard to find so I have only a small number from one package - it's too early to tell if they self sow. They are zone 4 hardy. I have planted several new ones 2007 and they came up.

Our references note that it can grow in zones 5 and 6 with heavy winter mulching, but will grow with no special attention in zones 7 and 8. It may be possible to grow this species in colder zones with mulching and adequate snow cover, but PlantFiles cannot advocate it's hardiness below zone 7.
