They all hail from the Himalayan area. P. sikkimensis itself has sofy primrose-yellow to cream-coloured flowers on 3 ft stems. It prefers moist to wet, cool soil. It is native to Szechuan, Tibet, Yunnan, Sikkim and Nepal where it grows in wet boggy areas at 3500-5200 m elevation.
