It survived a major 22-night long freeze event in Dec/Jan. 2013 as low as 24F, albeit under the cover of a 6 foot tall fabric cold frame. The bed it is in is watered about once a month in summer and not at all in winter.
One issue with potted plants is that the large leaves sunburn easily when moved outdoors in the spring.

Note: more common form is wide, plastic-leaf form with bright green coloration and pink margins... I have grown this plant often and it can 'walk' from one pot to another... meaning its flowers tend to arch over, and root in other pots... sort of a weed, but not a serious one. Very easy to grow and takes a good deal of sun, though still prefers some shade.

Easy to grow. Grows well in a hanging basket outside all year. Never left out so far below 37 degrees.
