This is one of the 1905 Dutch hybrids that is readily available in the trade. Large tesselated magenta flowers appear in St John's, Newf...Read Moreoundland in early - mid October. It increases moderately well, but not as quickly as some of the other species and varieties. Grow in ordinary good garden soil. Large leaves in spring to early summer.

I often grow a few spare corms in large pots for the patio and plunge the pots for the winter after they have flowered. (These are easier to photograph!)
