I just double checked my purchase order. I ordered my seeds in May 2019. So it has been a little over a year.

I have no ...Read Morepatience for things that take a month to germinate so even though the seeds were expensive and not many of them I'm sure I abused them somehow either nicking or scraping with a nail file. I can't remember. I'm also sure I soaked them. So the plant has had most of that time to grow. There were several and I can't remember how I killed the others or whether I gave them away. I think I let one die from a light frost. We had a mild winter and I brought this one inside the few times it went below thirty-two degrees.

I read they mature to two two four feet but it has crossed over five and still getting taller. It has branched and the trunk is starting to turn brown though it is not even half an inch in diameter. I've left a few branches long and cut the others one third and two thirds of their length to see if I can get better structure. However, as lanky as it looks, it does not flop or break. I can't find any pictures at all using Google image search that show it as a tree. Is that what it's trying to be?

It produced flowers and seeds last year so I am now sure it's a perennial but does anyone have any idea how big they go in nature?

Also, because mine was spindly I got bolder and bolder about giving it sun. For a long time it provided light shade for some night blooming cereus so that their buds would not burn off in the midday sun but it got relief about midafternoon when the sun went behind our house. Now I've moved it to where it only gets a little shade from some fluttering bamboo. And we are having temperatures in the mid-nineties. It seems to be a full sun plant. Maybe that's why people complain about it being spindly looking.

It was cuter when it was young because the leaves that move were almost as big as the others. But it still amazes people when they put their phone up to a branch, turn on virtually any music, and see the little leaves move.

I also tried not fertilizing it for a month. I always keep the soil moist and nothing seems to work.
