It is native to AL, FL, GA, IL, KY, LA, MS, SC, and TN. So, it grows in many other zones besides 9a and 9b.

The plant was doing great for over a year. About June 09 the stems got black and the flowers and leaves dried and shrivelled up.
We cut the plant way back to save it. We then sprayed it with a copper treatment.
It is now beginning of August 09 and the plant is doing great and about 12" high.
We really hope that this plant will continue to flourish, and I have a note in to the nursery to find out what was wrong with it, so we can prevent it from happening again.
