Habit: Height of 14" to 18" (35 to 45 cm).
I purchased this plant in September 2005 and planted it in the 12" diameter 7.5" deep hanging basket shown in my photos, using 1/3 miracl...Read Moree gro soil, 1/3 perlite and 1/3 peat moss by volume as my soil mix. I adopted a once a week spray program using Orthonex to discourage disease. My plant grew fairly rapidly to its present height of ~ 15" and began showing blooms in January but then almost succumbed to powdery mildew in early February. I trimmed the plant of infected leaves repeatedly and finally vanquished the infection by carefully washing the plant with a Neem oil/dish soap mixture to remove the mildew. I have added sweet alyssum to the hanging basket since then and continue to spray with Orthonex weekly and treat any recurrence of mildew with the Neem/soap mix. Sequoia Gold has rewarded my assiduity by covering itself with blooms that last for ~ a week at a stretch, slowly fading from yellow to off-white. Sequoia's flowers have a nice, fruity fragrance that one must be within a few feet of the basket to enjoy. My plant has bloomed more or less continually to the present date of July 20, 2006 since the mildew was vanquished (late March, 2006).
