Our summers are 25-27C every day (77-80F) and nights are around 70F. This is Pico island, in the Azores archipelago, with the warmest nights year round in Europe. I wonder if it takes a long time to establish its roots? Most other palms, including slow growers planted on the same day, already showing signs of growth. Even the slow Copernicias are showing signs of growth.

I have been advised not to fertilize my two plants, as they have a tendancy to outgrow their roots and topple over in high winds... I'll take my chances!

Be sterile in handling and sowing when using this technique. I recommend perlite to sow in.

Also seems to retain several ranks of leaves along trunk. Trunk covered with an ornamental neat weave of fiber. Seedlings have long strap leaves and take years to develop their first split leaves. This has been a good palm for me, though a bit marginal in zone 9b (gets damaged by frosts). Relatively new in cultivation. Experience in Florida has shown it to be a very fast grower there, but also easily blown over in high winds.
