The leaflets are slight ribbed and thin. As a seedling this palm is particularly ornamental having long, wide, leaves shooting right out of the ground and it stays this way until finally forming a stem (for me, that was 3-4 years after planting a 1 gal plant). Then the leaves start to show separate leaflets. Seems senstive to hot winds and very sensitive to dry, hot direct sun (burns leaves nearly instantly). Otherwise it seems fairly easy to grow, at least in a Mediterranean climate
