Did they mislabel it, or is there just that much variation within this variety? The plant spent the summer in my garden, but when I dug it up in fall I goofed and trimmed back its roots (what was I thinking?). Still, it grew 2 flower stems this winter, but the flowers were smaller than last year.

I put the bulb out in the garden, and was rewarded with a wonderful show! This season there were five blooms opening in succession on a sturdy stalk, and each was a full 8" across. I can't wait for this bulb to multiply, as many of my friends have already asked for offshoots!
