I don´t think (and they don´t look like) they are edible.
This tree is hardly cultivated, often left apart for better looking fig trees, but worth a try. It needs full sun, high temperatures, with regular watering and a well drained soil. The ones I know are planted on a very poor dust, almost only sand, but seeing how they look like they are facing hard times, I guess they only tolerate this condition. Also, be careful with the white sap, it may cause skin irritation, and may be poisonous.
