It is a smooth pale blue-green to grey-green nearly spherical plant with a large split in the center, from which comes the next set of leaves, and in the fall, a brilliant pink to pink-purple flower of unbelievable brightness and contrast to the rest of the plant. They slowly divide and spread dichotomly. Though prone to rotting in hot summer with excessive water, they are more resistant to this occurence than many other of the summer-rotting Azoiaceae. Make good accent plants in small succulent gardens, and good potted plants... but not great in standard gardens as get shaded (and will rot then) or just hidden so can't be seen.
