Ceropegia Species, Stapelia

Central Phoenix -- Stapelia scitula grows, but not well, in my garden. I have only had this species since 2012 and one plant finally die...Read Mored last summer. It was in the ground in afternoon shade and once a month summer water and was never happy. Another plant in the ground gets several hours of afternoon sun and summer water every other week. It looks good and is growing, but is half the size it was originally. A third plant, in a pot, with almost full shade and once-a-month summer water is doing poorly.

Scitula is a delightful little Stapelia. It makes a bushy, full plant which works well as a potted plant.

The small blo...Read Moreoms are the size of a quarter and a deep maroon/brown in color. They have a delicate foul fragrance and one has to sniff closely to pick up on it. This would not be an offensive house plant even when in bloom.
