Aloe Species

The leaves are recur...Read Moreved a bit, and rosettes tend to be oriented laterally, making the leaves all droop a bit, giving the appearance the plant is soft, or melting a bit- very similar but larger than Aloe confusa. Leaves have some grey-turquoise color to them, and are sparsely armed with teeth. Makes a low-growing shrub up to 3' tall and 6' wide.

Relatively cold tender for an aloe, barely tolerated temps below freezing. Mine has bloomed 3 years in a row, but just in time to see temps get down to around 32F and the flower just aborts its progression right there... Finally flowered well 2010 along with many plants in the local aboretums same year (had a very mild winter that year). This is a good 'canary in the coalmine' aloe for cold temperatures in southern California, showing leaf and flower damage before just about any other species I have seen growing here (over 300 so far).
