This species superficially resembles the larger Ceratozamia norstogii... however this is a smaller plant overall, and has shorter leaves. The leaflets of this species are flat, not fluted like those of C norstogii, and the cones have barely any spines or 'horn's on them (C norstogii cones have prominent 'horns').
