Moderate growth speed, but not slow. They are spider mite magnets for me and will damage easily if you don't keep an eye on them to keep them washed off or treated.
I may have to find a different place for larger one(has been in front of east facing window) which promotes the spider mites. May have to put either in basement with other low light palms where I don't have the mite problem or repot into more compacted..yet still well draining soil and put it in protected area outside for the season. GORGEOUS palm though if you can find one.

I have this palm growing in Full Sun here in Miami and it is doing awesome. I bought it in 2004 as a seedling and it is already over 8' ...Read Moretall. Hoping to get seeds out of it soon. Has a beautiful thin trunk about 3' tall. This is such a wonderful palm to grow. Dark green leaves.

I'll remove the shadcloth in a couple years when the other palms around the R. hildebrandtii grow up enough to protect it. It has produced maybe eight leaves since I planted it in Spring 2004, but not much fattening of the base in that time (went from 3 cm diamter to about 5 cm diamter). Hopefully I'll see some trunk soon.

Very slow growing, ...Read Morebut some newer variants in So Cal are growing faster. Looks like a miniature Majesty Palm, but doesn't have the problems with yellowy leaves that a Majesty does.
