I have seen some sold by a native plant nursery in southeast Pennsylvania, but I have not seen this Large species sold by conventional nurseries so far in the Philadelphia or Chicago areas. The Dwarf species and some cultivars are commonly sold at many conventional nurseries. So far I have only seen this species at Morton Arboretum in northeast Illinois. It is native to the Appalachian Region from North Carolina & Tennessee down to northern Georgia & Alabama.
