The seed is held on the shrub for many years in hard woody capsules. If the capsules are picked, they will shed seed in a cou[le of weeks, if kept dry. The seed is minute, but germinates fairly easily. Although naturally growing in wet sites, it thrives in the garden, without being kept especially wet. I have one in my garden, which I grew from seed and it is now nearly 3 metres high flowering beautifully each year
