Double Poet's Narcissus, Poeticus Daffodil 'Plenus'

I have some bulbs from my grandparents garden and others from the other set of grandparents who were professional growers for the florist...Read More trade many years ago. We have found that this daffodil does better partly shaded in lower Tennessee and upper Alabama zone, 7a and 7b. Those in full sun are more likely to have trouble blooming, some even perform decently in deep shade but may quit blooming if the shade is too deep. Lovely flower and a sentimental favorite.

Last year they were pre...Read Moreparing to bloom, and then after a rainstorm the buds looked a bit wilted, and then never bloomed at all. This year I have two tiny buds starting to open (size of my thumbnail), and if I lean over and sniff they have a great smell, but I don't know if they'll get more impressive as they open. I see a note on a picture saying that if the spring is too hot, the buds will fail. Perhaps that's the problem for me... our winters are cold, but our springs are 70ish (F).
