'Golden Prayers' is a medium-large mound of heavily corrugated golden foliage; a Tokudama type. Mound size averages 21" tall by 45" wide...Read More. Leaves are 8.5" long by 8" wide; medium to bright gold with a moderate underside bloom. The blade is very broadly ovate, somewhat wavy, and heavily corregated with a thick substance. 14 -16 vein pairs. Flowers late June into mid July, near white scapes 24" or lower. Some pods develop.
I purchased two 'Golden Prayers' hosta in 1997, which were obviously mislabeled and are actually 'Little Aurora'. As I began reading about this cultivar in my hosta book, I found that not only is the tale surrounding it interesting - this mistake has most likely led to many cultivars and "sports" possibly being listed from the wrong parentage (from both 'Little Aurora' and 'Golden Prayers').
'Little Aurora' was registered by Paul Aden in 1978 as a seedling of 'Tokudama Aureonebulosa' X 'Golden Waffles'. Aden also registered 'Golden Prayers' in 1976 as a hybrid of "Aden 381 X 'Golden Waffles'.
In his book entitled "The Hosta Handbook," Mark Zilas explains that he did some research into the confusion surrounding these two plants, in which 'Little Aurora' was often sold mislabled as 'Golden Prayers', and found that the true description of 'Golden Prayers' was of a "medium large; unique form of upright leaves held like hands in prayer; choice gold-cupped Tokudama type"; while the description for 'Little Aurora' read "small, neat clump of bright gold from Tokudama parentage; heavy substance". Obviously the size difference alone was huge!
Evidently, for many years 'Little Aurora' was sold as 'Golden Prayers' in nurseries, I still have the original plant tag from my two plants, which were purchased in 1997 and which came from a very well known wholesale nursery; it reads, "Hosta x 'Golden Prayers' Benefits: Textured golden-yellow foliage retains color even in shade! Popular perennial. Size: moderate grower to 1' tall, 2' wide." Obviously one of the mislabeled plants!

lovely hosta. stays gold in part sun/part shade. Unlike other varieties I have (i.e. halcyon), this one doesn't suffer much from slug damage
Flower scapes 24". Paul Aden 1976.
H. Little Aurora is often sold with the lable of H. Golden Prayers.
