It uses its creeping rhizomes to spread and form a dense ground cover, though it is not intrusive. Even though this water loving plant grows well in boggy sites and wet gardens, and in up to 3" of water, it has also been seen in rock gardens and borders, and can stand drought conditions. It is a hardy plant, and very easy to grow. Propagation is by division, best in spring every two years.
