Obtained three jumbo crinum bulbs from an ebayer last summer. The first of the three has an umbel full of flowers now, and another has started a scape up. Beautiful milk & wine blooms!
C.herbertii can be distinguished from several other species and hybrids that are lumped into the general category of Milk & Wine by the fact that it has its pink stripe fade towards the edge of the petal. It inherits this trait from its C.scabrum parent.
I have several other Crinum herbertii which I expect to bloom as summer progresses.
This was planted by my grandmother by the front door of the house I grew up in. It thrived in spite of my mother's brown thumb and complete neglect.
