This is a Les Hannibal hybrid of c.burbankii x c.bulbispermum. circa 1961. Should be cold hardy to zone 6, but need to confirm that guess.
Creates massive umbels of large flowers on strong scapes up to 5foot tall. Repeat bloomer from late spring thru frost.
May occasionally set seed if hand pollinated.
Overall, very desireable characteristics.
Cape Dawn is a listed crinum hybrid by Pacific Bulb Society, International Bulb Society, and others.
Cape Dawn is the seed parent of crinum Claude Davis.
Cape Dawn has been propagated in the UK as 'giant red powellii' according to one source.
Note: There appears to also be a moorei variant called Cape Dawn by one nursery in Texas.
