After flowering (around 3 years) it dies so I tend to stop it from flowering so I can really enjoy the sagey green huge leaves that are covered in gold hairs.
Best grown in partial shade (morning sun) in slightly acid soil that is moist but well drained (i.e. doesn't get waterlogged over winter). I've also grown it in a container and it did really well.

Hard to grow outside its preferred climate. Needs cool, moist summers, constant moisture, plenty of shade.
