Iochroma, Tubeflower, Violet Churur 'Purple Queen'

I'm always terrified to waste my money at a plant nursery on a plant Ive never heard of. Had so many plants die because "they were pretty...Read More" but not well suited for the hot Houston Summers. I found one on sale for a few bucks so I thought, "Okay, why not". This is now one of my FAVORITE plants. Its very hardy and loves the sun. It puts on huge clusters of dark purple blooms that look like mini angel trumpets. Mine blooms from March until Nov. It also lets me know when it needs water by slightly wilting...and hummingbirds love this. I trim mine back to make it a bush shrub...it can get leggy, but I lop off tall shoots.
