I have them all over the place in the front and backyard. The ones that are closest to a drip irrigation not only grow faster and bigger but bloom even more. Occasionally I will dead-head spent flower stalks. I cut mine back all the way to the ground after the growing season, usually late fall, early winter. They jump right back up and start blooming again around March.

It is faster growing and the stems are stronger than Hymenoxys scaposa, but it blooms through the heat of summer with hundreds of bright yellow flowers just like the smaller species. Plant in full, hot sun (the hotter the better) and in well drained soil. An excellent xeriscape plant, use it in rock gardens and other areas not dependent on frequent watering. I have not grown it, so I can not rate it other than neutral at this time.

The species name "acaulis" comes from the Greek for "without stem".
