Originally from Zanzibar(can also be found in Tanzania and Kenya) and can be found in some parts of S.America and French Antilles . The black seed is used in cuisine in Antilles and some East African cuisine. Though it's not so known plant everywhere and rather rare, not much left in Zanzibar. Sometimes seedlings can be seen in some nurseries here.
