Sunny exposure, of course, They have flourished, not only in their original, and, admitedly over-prepared bed, but also in sand, bark and rocky organically-challenged dirt. Bullet proof, prolific, clear sassy/cheerful color and ooooooooh that wonderful scent! It's one of the few plants I allow to go anywhere it wants to go in our yard.
