Reaso...Read Morenably common (and *very* easy to identify; if you aren't sure, it isn't lumholtzii) along Mex 16 from Yecora, Sonora, to east of Yepachic, Chihuahua. Does not extend north into the USA so probably needs a combination of water and warmth not available there naturally. However, I suspect that it would do well anywhere Aleppo Pines would. Would love to collect some seed and try them in coastal Georgia, but it may be too wet here. I'm astonished this species has not made its way into commerce as it is a lot more striking than P. patula.
