Notes from the grower: SOW in ordinary garden soil in a sunny area after danger of heavy frost. Sow seeds evenly and thinly cover with 1/2" of fine soil. Firm lightly and keep evenly moist. Seedlings emerge in 9-14 days. THIN seedlings to stand about 12" apart when plants are 1-2" high. HINTS: For better results, scarify seeds before planting by nicking with a sharp knife or nail file. Prefer poor dry soil. Heavily fertilized soils produce all foliage and few blooms. Resists transplanting, so if started indoors, sow seed in individual peat pots and transplant pot.
