It blooms in April, and ripens fruit by mid-July here in zone 5 northern Colorado. It is hardy in this zone; I have had it for more than 12 years. Makes a nice 3-bite apple, or pink applesauce. Chickens like it too. Since Kizil means hawthorn, Kizil alma means hawthorn apple. I can see why it got this name, from the appearance of the fruit.
