Extremely dense growth makes an excellent screen. These plants get BIG! Do not sheer. Judicious hand pruning annually to control the shape and size is far preferable. Leave lots of room for growth. These plants will eat your walkways, driveways, and other plants. Good soil and aggressive fertilizing will produce enormous plants. Pay no attention to mature size comments. (These plants can't read.) They hold their vivid color throughout the year, but are at their peak in spring and summer. After a winter of ice, heavy snow and wind, my plants were totally undamaged. No insect problems that I know of. Highly recommended in the proper location.

This must have started as a branch mutation that was rooted. My neighbor's plant used to look horrible because it used to be sheared very hard into a yellowish blob with browned tips. Now, it looks good as this plant should appear and it has room. This Dwarf Goldthread Falsecypress is commonly planted a lot in the East and Midwest US. Nurseries list this plant as only getting about 3 to 4 feet high, though they must mean that it should be kept about that high. 'Gold Mop' as far as I know is a newer selection of this cultivar that is a little more yellow and a little smaller.
