It blooms in early to mid March in my Zone 9 garden. I try to keep it bone dry during the summer and it has come back several years for me.
Update: it is now Mar 2009 and Prins Hendrik has come back every year for 7 years. I started with 5 bulbs and still have 5-7 blooms. The bloom spikes are sparser than the first years but still have the elegant narrow characteristic.
