It's a beautiful flower, but like many of the older roses, needs some help getting past mildew and blackspot. It seldom reblooms for us. It is a sport of 'Heinrich Schultheis' and sometimes reverts to it. It pretty much is characteristic of the older Hybrid Perpetuals, but growing it is more than just a learning experience. It's lovely in the bud, and full and "blowzy" in full flower. It has a nice but not overpowering scent, and puts out a lot of buds in its first flowering. The Japanese Beetles adore it, however, and will skeletonize the foliage sometimes. We grow it anyway, and are happy to have it. I'm posting a picture of it reverting partially to its mother plant, 'Heinrich Schulteis.' It's just about fifty/fifty!
