I have ...Read Moregrown this for three years and I am very impressed. It has outgrown and has all the aesthetic attributes of Acer pseudosieboldianum, Acer sieboldianum, and Acer pseudosieboldianum spp takesimense.
Growth has been vigorous and foliage is held nicely horizontal to the ground. Foliage remains clean and semi-glossy all summer, finally turning a deep bronze, almost ebony before falling.
One well-known west coast mail-order nursery lists the tree as zone 6 hardy, but I have a feeling that that is very a conservative estimate based on the very limited experience of growing Acer robustum in this country.
