This tree is much more adaptable and faster growing than Post Oak(Q. stellata) while having smaller acorns, thick glossy leaves, and good red-purple fall colors like(many) Post Oak. It's also very drought tolerant and would be a good tree for parking lot strips or other hot droughty situations. Although seedlings I've cultivated also seem to grow very well in average to moist garden areas.
