This species has been easy to grow and is long-lived, probably due to it spreading nature. It has short rhizomes. 'Baby Blue' produces seed every year and new seedlings are common. Flowers on the seedlings are usually smaller than those of the parent. Leaves are distinctive in color and shape and the veins are indented in a distinct pattern. Since I live in zone 8a I place some 'Baby Blue' plants in 2-3 gallon pots in February and have beautiful flowers along the front walk by April.
