Also, this location...Read More has alkaline soil and my understanding is Orientals prefer acid soil. With that said, Salmon Star is doing very well for me in comparison to some of the other Orientals. I planted last Spring and this is the 2nd year of multiple blooms. And I just can't describe the beauty of this flower when seen in person. If you're foolish like me and trying to grow Orientals in less than ideal conditions, this one may be worth trying.

The package that my salmon star bulbs came in stated a height of 48", but I loved the color so much I bought them anyway. So far though, my salmon stars have only reached 24" or so. I'll probably move them forward in the beds this season. The color is lovely next to blues and purples. As refreshing as a scoop of orange sherbet on a hot summer's day.
