(We live in the city and many people walk and ride their bikes year-round.) It is not a fast grower, so if you have time, I suggest planting one if it will grow in your zone. (The bright yellow leaves in the fall are beautiful too.)

My own plant languishes (while other snakebarks do well), and another I've seen nearby looks no better. Interestingly, Acer x conspicuum "Silver Cardinal" appears to not be hardy in this region.
