Myrtle is used to decorate ceremonial breads for weddings, etc. It is also used as crowns for the bride & groom. I have not explored the culinary applications. I live on the southern tip of Vancouver Island, a mile inland from the ocean.

It has smaller narrower leaves than the type and is not so tall growing either. The flowers are fragrant, very attractive to bees and tinged with pink. The berries are white - unlike tha black berries of M. communis.
