Not sure what...Read More made the difference, but the blooms were dark-red, instead of purple. I don't know if the proximity to Prince Noir affected the color, or if the heat did. Deuil was advertised as heat-tolerant, but didn't do as well as Prince Noir did in the heat. This year, I grew it on a southeast-facing wall. The blooms were decidedly purple and white, larger, and lasted longer. They made great cut flowers, and lasted almost 2 weeks in a vase.

Attracts lots of visitor attention and may be the most-photographed flower in the garden.
